My Story

John was born in Eastbourne on 9th December 1952 and lived in Winchcombe Road Eastbourne.

He joined the forces in a boy’s unit and progressed to serve in the Royal Engineers, a job he would have loved for life had his time in the forces not been cut short following an motor vehicle accident leaving him with a metal hip.

During his life he spent time at some factories and worked for both Eastbourne and Stagecoach bus services before joining the NHS in the Laundry department where he was still employed at the time of his death on the 11th of May this year.

John had been fighting Cancer.

He will be sadly missed by all and leaves behind a loving Daughter and Granddaughter.

His funeral is at Eastbourne Crematorium at 1 pm on Tuesday 12th June. All are welcome to this and to the wake after at Eastbourne United AFC. The Oval Eastbourne.

John was a traditionist and was always supporting Remembrance Day as well as being appalled at the treatment of our homeless veterans.

As a family we would request no flowers at the funeral other than from family but would encourage anyone to donate to the SSAFA charity to help Homeless Veterans for his memory.
