- My Story
The slogan on the front of the “Guide to raising money for SSAFA,” says on water, on land and in the sky. Well to raise money for this armed forces charity we are doing our bit ON WATER on board this spectacular tall ship! The Lord Nelson was the first tall ship designed and built to enable disabled people to sail alongside those who are able-bodied and on 26th September as part of D-Day commemorations we will be spending five days crewing this ship with a mixture of able-bodied and disabled veterans together with volunteers like ourselves. We have no previous sailing experience so it is a somewhat daunting prospect but one that should be very rewarding and fulfilling. Our aim is to raise a total of £5000 between us to donate to SSAFA and would therefore be grateful for any support you could give us.
