Driving 5 miles for every fallen serviceman and woman since the start of the Afghan conflict, 50 cars will cross 9 countries in just 10 days. All costs paid by the participants so that every penny raised goes to helping veterans and service families.
Roger & Karen Smith - Rally for Heroes 2020
- My Story
This is our first time taking part in the Rally for Heroes and raising funds for SSAFA, which is the longest standing Armed Forces charity in the UK.
The Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Family Association was first formed in 1885 and exist to relieve need, suffering and distress amongst the Armed Forces, veterans and their families in order to support their independence and dignity. Their support extends to those involved in the most recent military campaigns, but also back to WWII and beyond.
The Rally itself is a gruelling 3,000 mile drive in 10 days through Europe, taking in 10 countries, starting at Dover, going as far east as Bratislava and finishing in Paris. It is not just a jolly sight-seeing drive, it is an endurance event for the two of us to take on.
Since 2010 the Rally for Heroes participants have raised over £500,000 and Karen and I are committed to raising at least £1,500 by completing the 2020 event. We will be very grateful for any support that you are able to provide through sponsorship to help us reach our goal and support the work of SSAFA.
