Driving 5 miles for every fallen serviceman and woman since the start of the Afghan conflict, 50 cars will cross 9 countries in just 10 days. All costs paid by the participants so that every penny raised goes to helping veterans and service families.
- My Story
My name is Wilf Box
During my life, especially the last 20 years working in the fire service i have taken part in many events to raise money for different charities.
From "6 Countries 6 Days" cycling through Europe to The Great Run half marathon in full fire kit including boots and a full breathing apparatus on my back.
Rally for Heroes will give me the opportunity and experience like nothing that I’ve done before.
The adventure takes place between 5th -14th of August 2020.
A bit of back ground to RFH......
Rally for Heroes as we know it today was brought into existence in 2010 when 27 vehicles and 52 people embarked to cover a minimum of 5 miles for each serviceman that had given their lives whilst on active service in Afghanistan since the recent troubles began in 2001. This meant that a target of 1600 miles was set and completed by all taking part.
Since this time the event has been ran bi-annually ever since with a further 5 previous events, taking place in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018
2020 sees yet another group of intrepid participants take part in Rally for Heroes that has kept to its early ethos and will, in 2018, see everyone who competes complete a minimum distance of approx 2500 miles that equates to the 456 lives that were lost during the Afghanistan Conflict.
It will, with your help, attempt to raise a minimum of £100,000 for SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) by taking 50 vehicles around Europe crossing 9 countries in just 10 days.
This will be our 10th Anniversary and will be bigger and better than before.
Together we have managed to raise in 2018 :- £140,246.33 for SSAFA increasing our former record by over £13k!!
Overall our total raised is
Again an unbelievable amount!!
Please help us support the charity...
Please help us to hit our target and aid SSAFA in helping those that have served our Nation!
The cost of this driving challenge is funded entirely by ourselves . This means that every penny donated to our fund raising page goes directly to SSAFA. Please help us to achieve and exceed the overall target of £100,000 for this worthy cause and charity.
I have learned during my life you don't have to do much to make a difference, you just have to do something.
No donation is considered too small.
Thank you for your support.
